Studyabroad.shiksha.com got in touch with one of the students – Hari Prasad and learned how he secured admission in France during the Coronavirus pandemic. He is going to pursue a Masters in Management at SKEMA Business School, France.

Q. Why did you choose to study abroad? Did Covid-19 affect your decision at any point?

Hari: I wanted to be an international student and explore the opportunity to study abroad and in this unprecedented time of COVID crisis the best one can do is to learn skills and make yourself better.

Q. Was this particular country your only choice as a study destination or did you consider other countries as well?

Hari: I was looking to join a leading business school all in Europe. France has many such leading business schools and SKEMA Business School is one such prominent school where it gives its students various opportunities.

Q. Once you were sure of going abroad to study, how did you research the application process? Was it a difficult stage?

Hari: Shortlisting and applying to a school that fits your profile is a bit of a challenging task. I did a lot of online research straight on the web and took consultant advice to finalize my school.

Q. Which exams were you required to take?

Hari: I appear for a GRE exam however; the school does not consider only the GRE exam score for giving admission, they look into different prospects in your resume.

Q. How was your Visa interview? What questions did the Visa officer ask you?

Hari: In the case of France, the interview was conducted by Campus France. The academic interview was a bit easy if you provide proper academic documents and your reason of study. Following the academic interview, there is a document drop in the VFS.

Q. What challenges did you face due to Covid-19 Lockdowns? Was it difficult to arrange finances?

Hari: COVID19 crisis made the process very tough; arranging for an education loan was a difficult task. The course dates were also pushed a little longer due to the new immigration rules.

Hari: I was looking for business schools that suited my profile. Shiksha had a great database of school details. Shiksha Study abroad counseling services helped me in every possible way. A counselor was assigned to me for the whole process. My Shiksha counselor (Srashty Agarwal), was very professional and helped in all the stages, starting from shortlisting of business schools until my issuance of study visa.

Q. What additional support did you receive from the university or Shiksha counselors during this unforeseen situation?

Hari: My business school has dedicated Indian managers in India to facilitate all the needs of international students. I also got additional support services from Shiksha counselors for mock academic interviews. Their feedback and suggestions were really valuable, moreover, all these services from Shiksha were free of cost.

Q. You have made it to your chosen study abroad destination. What advice would you offer to study abroad aspirants especially amid the Covid-19 scenario?

Hari: Amid the COVID crisis, the best course of action you can take is to invest time and money in education and gain essential skills, so that when the crisis is over we can kick start our career.
