RMIT University Admissions 2022: Requirements, Fee Details & FAQs ,Melbourne,Australia

  • Melbourne,Australia

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University is a publicly-funded research-intensive university located in Melbourne, Australia. It was established in 1887 as the Working Men's College to bring education to the working people of Melbourne. In the 1990s, it gained university status and built campuses in the city's northern suburbs of Bundoora and Brunswick. Queen Elizabeth II awarded RMIT royal patronage for its educational service to the Commonwealth and contribution to the war. Till date, it remains the only higher education institution in Australia with the right to use the prefix "Royal" and the Monarchy's coat of arms.

The university has grown from a simple technical college providing education to working men and women to a global university. Initially, it offered education on arts, technology, and trades only. Now, it provides a range of courses under undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational programmes. It also has campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam. RMIT has a strong global presence through significant teaching partnerships in Asia and Europe, and research and industry partnerships on every continent. In 2013, RMIT opened a research and industry collaboration centre in Barcelona, Spain.

International students can undertake part-time jobs on and off the campus as per the restrictions on their visas. In such cases, insurance against injury is also not covered. RMIT has a job search website called CareerHub, where students can find employment of their choice. Apart from this, employment can be sought through the following channels:

  • Job search websites
  • The Age and Herald-Sun or other local newspapers
  • Campus employment through job fairs where companies like Myer, Coles, Woolworths, David Jones, Kmart, and Target list vacancies
  • Contact employers directly
  • Meet people by joining clubs and societies, local organisations, and sporting groups
  • Job search on LinkedIn
