Established in the year 1967, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a renowned institution of higher education and research in Toowoomba city of the state of Queensland, Australia. The university originated from Queensland Institute of Technology that started operating with 140 students. In 1990, it transformed into the University College of Southern Queensland under the aide of the University of Queensland. In 1992, USQ gained the university status under its current name. It is a founding member of the Regional Universities Network.

USQ has its main campus in Toowoomba and two other satellite campuses in Ipswich and Springfield. The main campus consists of buildings housing administrative, academic and support facilities, pathways, parking areas and green spaces. The university’s library with numerous printed and digital resources provides immense support for learning, teaching and research. Adjacent to the northern side of the main entrance of the campus is the Gumbi Gumbi Gardens with over 100 plant species in a 5.4-acre land. The campus is also home to the Japanese Garden featuring a mountain stream, waterfall, central lake, the Azalea Hill and about 3-km pathways. This garden has about 230 species of Australian and Japanese trees and plants growing on it. USQ's medical centres ensure the health and well-being of the students through regular health assessments and on-time medical services. Besides this, USQ provides counselling and career-related guidance to those who need it. Each campus has several dining options that serve healthy and tasty food and beverages. Other facilities include an aerobics centre, a theatre, gymnasium with high-tech equipment, bookshop, tennis centre, childcare centre, post-office, a branch of Heritage Bank, Olympic-standard basketball courts and netball courts. Both students and faculty can access the inter-campus shuttle services provided by USQ.

The university offers over 700 specialised professional degree programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The university has two faculties housing six schools each that offer programmes in various disciplines of business, management, education, law, arts, commerce, humanities, health and nursing, engineering, sciences, communication and creative arts. USQ has a separate college that facilitates indigenous education and research for Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginal community. The Open Access College of the university offers several special programmes that will equip students with the knowledge and skills for academic success. Besides this, it extends over 100 online programmes to facilitate flexible learning for working professionals. Its total student enrolment is 27,563, which includes the learners from more than 94 countries of the world. The university has about 1573 administrative staff members on the roll.

USQ has a vast alumni network all over the globe, which includes successful and renowned artists, businessmen, politicians, writers and actors. Great University, Great Experience!

Tips: Some of the important notes to be taken care of before joining University of Southern Queensland, Sydney are that accommodation is more affordable off-campus than on the campus. The university offers easy education loan options. There are various part-time job options available outside the campus of the university.

It's a happy-go-lucky university to be in!

Tips: Before joining the University of Southern Queensland, students must keep the following things in mind: - Most of the food options offered on the campus are English in nature and the students must be prepared for an acquired taste in food of different origins - Candidates, mostly, are asked to interact with students of other origins and introverts can find that a nightmare
