Camosun is a community college situated in Victoria, British Columbia in the westernmost region of Canada. It was established in 1971 and has campuses in Interurban and Lansdowne. There are a total of seven schools under Camosun College that are dedicated to Arts and Science, Business, Health and Human Services, and Trades and Technology, among others. The different areas of study include nautical training, computers and engineering, math, science and technology, sports, and exercise along with other advanced studies. Camosun College is affiliated with the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Colleges and Institutes Canada (CIC), Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and Canadian University Press (CUP).
The Lansdowne campus has several buildings that serve various purposes. The Isabel Dawson Building takes care of admissions and registrations, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, etc. The Dunlop House is a restaurant and pub for the students. The Ewing Building houses the computer lab, GP Lab, and other audio-visual services. The Interurban campus has a similar set of multipurpose buildings, and both campuses have well-stocked libraries, ATMs, and parking facilities. Victoria, in itself, is a beautiful city filled with exciting things to do and places to visit. It boasts of its Victorian architecture, the Craigdarroch Castle mansion, and the Butchart Gardens.
Being the largest public college in British Columbia, Camosun College has quite a diverse student population. Students from Inuit groups, Metis, and First Nations comprise about 1,200 students, while there are 2,100 international students from more than 80 countries. Some of the notable personalities include MLA of Victoria-Swan Lake Rob Fleming, Director of Deeley Research Centre Dr. Brad Nelson, artist and storyteller Arthur Vickers, President of UNIT4 Business Software Shelley Zapp and Len Wansbrough who is the President of Metropolitan Capital and Westridge Landing Centre.
