Founded in 1907, HEC Montreal is a constituent school of Canada-based Université de Montréal. Established by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, it was the first business and management school in Canada. It is accredited to the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It was the first school in America to receive accreditation from these prestigious organizations. The school has affiliations from the Universities Canada, Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), and the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).
The main building of the school is on the Cote-Sainte-Catherine Campus. Built-in 1996, the building features avant-garde classroom spaces equipped with advanced technologies and facilities. The first main building of the school was inaugurated in 1970, today known as the Decelles campus. Presently, the building is used as the secondary building and houses the academic facilities of the Master of Science in Administration and Ph.D. programs. The school is adjacent to the University-de-Montreal Metro Station.
