  • Grenfell Campus is located in Corner Brook, on Elmastukwek/Bay of Islands, in traditional Mi'kmaw territory
  • The Grenfell MFA delivers a blended learning/low residency program that can be completed in five or six semesters over a two-year period of study
  • The program begins with an on-campus intensive during May and June of the spring semester followed by fall and winter terms completed in the student's home community or at another campus of Memorial University with distance learning supervision and contact
  • Students return to Grenfell Campus for a second on-campus intensive the following spring
  • The final project is presented during the second fall, and/or winter term at Grenfell Campus

Other eligibility criteria
Portfolio: portfolio of 20 images of examples of work or other documentation of visual art research Students who have completed secondary schooling, an undergraduate program, or a graduate program at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English will normally not require an English proficiency test If the institution is located outside of Canada and/or the language of instruction is not clearly indicated on the official transcript, applicants are advised to provide a letter from their university stating the language of instruction

Step 1: Prepare documents for application

  • Two (2) letters of appraisal 
    • All letter of appraisal forms must be submitted directly to our office by the referee, via email at gradapply@mun.ca
    • Applicants should send a link to the letter of appraisal form in an email to their referee and include in the email their full name and date of birth or Memorial student number (if known)
    • The letter of appraisal forms can be downloaded here: Academic letter of appraisal form and Professional letter of appraisal form
    • Adobe Reader (version 8 or higher) is required to complete and submit the letter of the appraisal form
    • Letter of appraisal forms must be sent from an institutional email address for academic referees (e.g., jdoe@mun.ca)
