University Ranking
Established in 1908, The University of British Columbia (UBC) is a public research university with campuses in Vancouver and Kelowna, British Columbia. The university ranks among the top three universities in Canada. The university has been constantly ranked among the top 50 universities by various renowned ranking organizations.
The US News & World Report has ranked the university at 31 for the current year, 2021. The US News & World Report takes into account Global Research Reputation, Regional Research Reputation, and Number of Publications cited (12.5% each) among other ranking parameters, as part of their ranking methodology. Global ranking providers QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE) have ranked the university at 45 and 34 respectively for 2021. While QS puts a maximum focus on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each, Times Higher Education (THE) devotes equal importance to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each.
We can observe from the table that not much difference has been given on rankings over the past years, 2017-2020. Course Ranking
When it comes to pursuing undergraduate and post-graduate courses at the university, the university ranks fairly well in its major programs. The University of British Columbia has been highly ranked for its business courses. The university has been ranked 28 for its PG Business and Economics program by Times Higher Education in 2021. The university has been ranked 33 for its Accounting and Finance courses by QS Subject Ranking and 94 for its Global MBA program.
The financial times has also ranked the university at number 81 for its Masters in Management program in 2020. When it comes to engineering courses, the university performs equally well, with a subject ranking of 45 by Times Higher Education for Studying PG Engineering and Technology and 32 for Studying Engineering and Technology by QS Subject Ranking. When it comes to computer courses, the university has been ranked 48 by Times Higher Education for pursuing the PG Computers program for 2020 and 2021.
