  • Students who wish to pursue studies in computer science leading to the degree of Master of Computer Science (MCS) can do so in joint programs offered by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa and the School of Computer Science at Carleton University under the auspices of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science (OCICS)
  • Students may include courses from both universities in their programs, and may select a supervisor from either university, but they should apply to the university with which their supervisor is associated.
  • The study program is administered by the university at which they are enrolled and is subject to its regulations.

  • Applicants must have a bachelor of science degree (4 years) with honours in computer science (or equivalent), with a minimum average of B (70%) 

3 year degree accepted


  • Bachelor (3 years) and Master and Bachelor (3 years) from institutions with NAAC rating of A (some programs) can be acceptable

Conditional Offer


All language proficiency tests must be completed less than two years before the beginning of the term indicated on the application. Depending on the test results, student may receive a conditional admission offer either requiring that student enrolling in one or two ESL courses during your first year or that student enrolling and successfully completing the English Intensive Program (EIP).
