A public research institute in Ontario, Canada, the University of Windsor got incepted in 1857. An internationally oriented establishment, the university has a team of award-winning faculty and creative staff. Located in Canada’s southernmost city experiencing amazing weather conditions, the university celebrated its 50th anniversary in the year 2013. A total of 17 athletic teams from the institute have been taking part in national as well as provincial championships. The student-to-faculty ratio stands at 26:1, with 145,000 alumni spread across the globe. New students adjust quite well to the university’s environment with multiple student services, associations, clubs, etc. making their stay easy and interesting. Colleges affiliated with the university are Assumption College, Iona College, and Canterbury College.

Considered one of the best-ranked universities in Canada, the University of Windsor was ranked between 751-800 in the QS World University Ranking 2023. Also, the university’s subject rank in QS was between 451-500. It ranked between 601-800 in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2023. In US News and World Report’s Rankings, the university features as the 1121st best global university in 2022-2023. In Canada, it has obtained the 29th rank among the best global universities.

Covering 51 hectares, UWindsor’s campus sits in a prime location right next to North America’s busiest international border crossing. The two cities – downtown Detroit and downtown Windsor are both minutes away from the campus. Students can explore these two places with ease of conveyance during their free time and holidays and indulge in lots of activities which take place throughout the year over there. Transit Windsor operates buses from 5 am to 2 am on weekdays for students. A total of four buses run for the university. There are over 190 UG and 65 graduate programs. 9 co-op education programs for 1,100 students and 6 professional courses are also offered.

Over 16,321 full-time and part-time students are studying different programs, both undergraduate and graduate, in the university such as Social Work, Law, Social Sciences, Business, Education, Science, Engineering, Humanities, Kinetics, and much more. 23% of the student population is made up of overseas students, representing around 100 nations. The University of Windsor has a faculty of 524 for its 16,000+ students in the university.

The University of Windsor has three Residences for its students; Alumni Hall, Cartier Hall, and Laurier Hall.  Windsor University is a medium size campus located on Windsor’s west side and downtown. There are a lot of things to explore, like a variety of restaurants, friendly shops, and ample cultural offerings, there are many things to experience outside the classroom. Alumni Hall and Cartier Hall offer double and single rooms with shared kitchen facilities and washrooms on the floor or within the suite. Laurier Hall offers students a living in a single room with shared common washrooms and lounge spaces on each floor. The University of Windsor has a special centre for its students called “EPICenter”.  EPICentre is the hub for all entrepreneurial endeavours on the University of Windsor campus.  This centre supports its students in their Entrepreneurship journey through tools, resources, mentorship and funding.

Overseas students meeting the set criteria for the scholarships are directly considered for the University of Windsor’s Open Entrance Scholarship program. Apart from an admission offer, a student’s eligibility depends upon the final and interim Grade 12 grades received. Another option is the Transfer Student Scholarship which is awarded to students who are pursuing a full-time undergraduate course and are direct transfers from an international institute (law and education excluded). They should be holding a transfer average between 80% to 84.9%. The award value for them is $500. Those holding a transfer average of 85% or above will receive $1,000.

The University of Windsor has a strong alumni network living and working around the world. The University of Windsor has produced some of the most notable alumni such as; Sergio Marchionne – a Businessman, Navdeep Bains – a Canadian Politician, Manmeet Singh Bhullar – a Canadian Politician, Amanda Tapping – a British-Canadian actress and director among many others. An Alumni Ambassador Award is given to alumni who are in their mid-career and have exceptional achievements in their professional life or volunteer work.

Life of pie in canadian city

Tips: I chose automotive and whole Canada has only two university that offer masters in automotive and this is one of the best compared to others. Before joining this college gather information about the city first because job market is low in Windsor so you have to bare with that and fees is very high for the course.
