Undergraduate Level Requirements:
- All-India Senior School Certificate Examination/AISSCE or Higher Secondary Certificate/HSC or Indian School Certificate/ISC or Intermediate Examination Certificate or Pre-University Examination Certificate with a minimum overall average of 60 per cent is required.
- IELTS Academic: An overall band score of 6.5 or better for most programs; for Bachelor of Engineering programs, overall score of 6.5 with individual component scores of 6.0 or better, for Schulich School of Business, overall band requirement is 7.5
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 83 for most programs; for Bachelor of Engineering programs, overall score of 88 with individual component scores of 20, for Schulich School of Business, overall band requirement is 100

Graduate Level Requirements (Masters, PhD and Graduate Programs):

For applying to undergraduate programs, all students are required to upload official transcripts. Also, an overall course description, including detailed list of topics covered, list of textbooks used, grading practices, number of weeks in attendance, number of lectures, tutorial, and laboratory hours, is submitted. English language proficiency scores are a must for all international applications. Besides, supplementary application forms are required for some programs.

Academic fee at York University is charged on the basis of either per credit or per term, depending on the faculty or program enrolled in. In most cases, international students are required to pay tuition costs as well as supplementary fees which include athletics, counselling, cultural and special services and fees approved by student referenda. Scholarships & Financial Aid
Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?
Scholarships and awards for international students in York are limited in number. Some scholarships do not require an application and students are automatically considered. While some scholarships require the students to complete and submit the International Student Scholarship and Award Application form.
York University Talent Entrance Scholarship
This scholarship is given only by the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design. This award is based on the performance in the audition or evaluation required for admission. Under this scholarship, an award of CAD 1,000 is given to the international student.
President's International Scholarship of Excellence
This award is given only to 20 students each year. President's International Scholarship of Excellence award is given to only those international students who are entering into their first year of four-year undergraduate program and demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work, extracurricular activities and leadership scholarship. An amount of CAD 45,000 per year is given under this scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for three to four years if students maintain high academic standing each year.
Tentanda Via Awards
Tentanda Via, York University's motto, meaning "The Way Must Be Tried" represents the timeless notion of pursuit, perseverance, resilience, and innovation. Every year 15 of these scholarships are awarded to international students. Under this scholarship, an award of CAD 30,000 per year is given to students. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years of undergraduate program if the student maintains good academic standing each year.
For graduate students at York University, the funding opportunities are offered in the form of scholarships, teaching and research assistantships and fellowships. There is a range of awards for graduate students for incoming master’s and doctoral students. With more than CAD 10 million in internal recruitment scholarships, the value of university’s scholarships and awards ranges between CAD 10,000 and CAD 30,000.

Within four days of submitting the application, the students will receive login details of MYFile through which they can manage their applications. Through MYFile, the students will upload the required documents, check the application status, complete financial profile and apply for residence.
When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?
After submitting the application, York University takes a minimum of four business days to process the application. International applicants will not be able to log into MYFILE until that period has passed. Once, international applicants are able to manage application via MYFILE, they can check the application status to know about any additional requirements and admission offers by the university.

Can I work while studying here?
International students at York University are eligible to work both on campus and off campus, provided they fulfil the below-mentioned criteria:
At the campus of York University, international students can work without a work permit if they are enrolled in a full-time program and have a valid study permit and Social Insurance Number. There is no time limit for on-campus work. The students at York University can look for on-campus job opportunities at ‘Work at YI’.
The full-time international students of York University can work off campus with a valid study permit and a Social Insurance Number. They must be enrolled in a program which is at least six months in duration. They are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic session and full time during scheduled breaks.

Is on-campus housing available?
York University has more than 3,000 students living in 10 residences; out of which, eight residences are at Keele campus and two at Glendon campus. On-campus housing is guaranteed to first year students who are admitted directly from a full-time secondary school program and apply within the deadline. First-year students who are admitted with an average of 90 per cent or more are also guaranteed a single room if they apply within the deadline. Most residence offer traditional dormitory style with standard bedrooms and shared washrooms and lounges. Some suite-style residences are available at the Keele campus. The cost of traditional single room for eight months starts at CAD 7,101. The meal plan, which is mandatory in some residences, costs between CAD 3,750 and CAD 5,250 for the duration of eight month.
International students who choose to live at off-campus housing like renting an apartment can expect to pay approximately CAD 11,000 on an annual basis for rent, utilities and meal.
