American College Testing or more commonly referred to as ACT is a standardized test that is conducted by the non-profit ACT to decide the readiness of students who are looking for admission to colleges. Introduced as an alternative to SAT, the ACT examination is widely accepted by colleges across the USA and Canada. The ACT exam is a computer-based test that requires candidates to answer multiple-choice questions in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The ACT Writing Test is optional and does not affect the candidates’ composite scores.

The ACT exam is held across various cities in the country. Candidates are required to register online for the ACT exam and are required to pay an ACT Registration Fee for the same. Q. Is 21 a good ACT score?

A. The average ACT score is 20.8, so, 21 is a little better than the average score. For Tier-1 schools, one needs to have an even better ACT score.

Q. What is there in the ACT?

A. The ACT exam includes four sections English, reading, Math, and Science. It also has an optional Writing section.

Q. How many times can I take the ACT?

A. Although one can take the ACT test 12 times but usually students give the exam 2-3 times. Candidates retake the exam to improve their scores.

Q. Is taking ACT more than 2 times is not considered good by colleges?

A. Usually, candidates take the ACT test 2-3 times in order to achieve their targeted score. Also, do not take the test many times as it can hamper your college applications.

Q. What to do if I got less score in the ACT retest?

A. It depends on the college where you are planning to apply, if they ask you to send all the scores then you need to send them all ACT test scores. And if they ask you to send the latest ACT score then you need to send them. Generally, candidates have the choice to select which scores they want to send. Also, some colleges consider your highest scores for admission, so, even if you got less score in the latest exam it won’t hurt your application.

A. The ACT is scored on a scale of 1-36, so, the minimum one can get is 1. The ACT is calculated after taking into account the average of all four sections.

Q. Can one get a 0 in the ACT?

A. The lowest ACT score is 1. Also, more than 90% of the test takers score higher than 11 in Math, 9 in Reading, and 9 in Science. So, there is a low probability that one gets the lowest score of 1.

Q. What is a bad ACT score?

A. To understand the ACT score one needs to know the ACT percentiles. Any score (composite) below 20 (50th percentile) is a below-average score.

A. ACT score ranges between 1-36. One gets a score depending on the number of correct answers you gave. The average score of four sections also known as the composite score is the final score.
