OET Preparation: Conducted by CBLA or Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment which is a venture between Cambridge English and Boxhill Institute, Occupational English Test or OET is an exclusive English language test that has been designed for health care professionals. Professionals who are looking to work or study in the healthcare sector in  Australia, Canada, Ireland, Maldives, Malta, Namibia, New Zealand, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America are required to apply for the OET to be able to prove their level of English proficiency to be able to deliver superior healthcare. The OET exam has been specifically designed for 12 healthcare professions including Occupational Therapy, Dentistry, Nursing, Radiography, Veterinary Science, Medicine, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Podiatry, Pharmacy, and Optometry.

Given the pandemic, COVID-19, the conducting body of the OET exam, Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment Trust (CBLA) has launched the OET at Home. This is the identical OET exam that is conducted at a test centre. However, the OET at Home would be an OET computer-based test that would be conducted from the safety of the home of the candidate. OET Exam Pattern/ OET Syllabus

OET Exam Pattern/OET Syllabus: Occupational English Test or more commonly referred to as OET covers all four language skills with special attention to communication in the healthcare environment. Candidates who are looking to appear for the OET exam will be required to appear in the following OET exam format.

OET Results & Scores

OET Results: Candidates who have successfully appeared for their OET can expect their OET Scores to be generated approximately within 16 working days from the day of each test. Students who appear for their OET would be graded on a scale of 0-500 in ten points increment. The numerical score would be further mapped to a separate letter grade for each subtest with (alphabet A) denoting highest to (alphabet E) denoting lowest. There is no overall OET grade.

Meaning, anyone finding difficulty with OET would face similar problems while appearing for the IELTS exam and vice versa.

Q. Can I take the OET exam at home?

A. OET@Home is available at the moment for test-takers. However, they are trying to do a complete launch of the home version of the OET test by the end of the year.

Q. What documents are required for the OET exam?

A. Candidates are advised to take their valid passports as ID for the exam. National ID and Aadhar Card are also acceptable on request and candidates are required to fill out a form during g the time of registration.

Q. How many hours is the OET exam for?

A. The duration of the total OET test takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Q. What is a good OET score?

A. OET does not have a good score benchmark. However, candidates are expected to comfortably get well over the 350 marks in each sub-test to be eligible for the best opportunities. Candidates are always advised to check with the significant council or board to stay up-to-date with the current demand of the market.

Hello Ashka. OET is an English language test for healthcare professionals. So you have to check whether the profession or university you are applying to accepts OET or not. If they do accept OET you can appear for the OET exam. Or else you are not required to appear for the OET exam

Hello Jaspreet. OET is an English language test for healthcare professionals. So you have to check whether the profession or university you are applying to accepts OET or not. If they do accept OET you can appear for the OET exam. Or else you are not required to appear for the OET exam
