SAT Test Centres

Administered by the College Board, the SAT test is conducted at around 53 institutes spread across 30 cities of India. With such a huge coverage, there still exists a lag in booking test centers as the test is conducted once a month. Since the number of applicants is increasing every year, the test requires its aspirants to apply almost a month in advance. Check out the list of SAT Test Centre in India Here.

SAT Exam Dates FAQs

Q. What are the SAT test dates for 2023?

A. The SAT Dital exam dates for 2023 are out now, students registering for SAT 2023 will be able to sit for the exam in the months of March, May, June and August for now as per College Board website. The upcoming test dates of SAT are as follows:
  • March 11, 2023
  • May 6, 2023
  • June 3, 2023
  • August 26, 2023
Students can register for any of the above-given SAT exam test dates. The dates of SAT exam usually do not change once announced, hence if students are not comfortable applying for one set of registered date, they cancel and register for another date as well.

Q. What factors affect in choosing the right SAT exam dates?

A. The timing for your SAT is extremely important to reap its benefits in full. The timing for your SAT exam date should be ideally governed by the following factors.
  • When Are Your College Application Deadlines? This should be your primary deciding factor. Candidates are advised to appear for their SAT exams in advance to avoid any last-minute hassle. Ideally, candidates should apply 3-4 months in advance to experience a smooth college application procedure.
  • Are You Applying for SAT Scholarships? This is another important factor. Candidates who are looking to apply for scholarships that require you to provide SAT Scores should apply in advance as scholarships usually take a longer time to process and include a lot of paperwork.
  • How Many Times Will You Take the SAT? The validity for your SAT Score is a period of 5 years and there is no limit on the number of times a candidate can appear for his SAT Exam. Hence, a candidate can start early and appear as many times as he/she likes.
  • How Much Study Time Will You Need? Candidates who take a longer time to study should schedule their exams as per their requirements. The SAT is an expensive exam and candidates are always recommended to prepare entirely and be sure of their performance before booking an exam slot.

Q. How to select appropriate SAT exam date?

A. Usually students prefer to give the SAT exam while in class XII or after passing out from high school. Plan to take the SAT test in such a way that at the time of the application process you have SAT scores with you. Appropriate SAT exam dates should be chosen in such a manner that students have good preparation and ample practice on mock tests. Also students must ensure to have their SAT scores in hand right before applying to foreign universities.

Q. Are SAT dates during registration final?

A. Yes, the SAT dates during registration are final are not subject to change usually. Thus, whatever two-three SAT dates options appear, applicants have to choose any one of them only. The students can register for the SAT online at their official website SAT.collegeboard.org. Also students can check the SAT test dates on the official website before choosing to register for it.

Q. How many test dates on SAT can be selected at once?

A. While registering for SAT exam students are permitted to choose only one SAT exam date. There is no option of making multiple selections for SAT exam dates on College Board. Students ideally should prepare themselves and ensure that they apply for the SAT date only when they are able to sit for the exam and score as per their expectations. Thus, making changes to SAT dates is possible but multiple selections are not.

Q. What is the process of changing SAT dates?

A. Students who are unable to sit for SAT exam on their chosen date while registering can either cancel taking the SAT exam or register for another date with an additional fee of USD 25. Students can make a choice by logging on to their College Board profile and select the appropriate option of either cancelling taking the SAT exam or altering the SAT exam date to a later date with an additional fee. Once the student makes the choice, he or she can save their changes and submit.

Q. Are SAT dates predetermined by College Board?

A. Yes, SAT exam dates are predetermined by College Board, thus, when applicants are applying for SAT exam they can see only two or three test dates. Out of these two or three test dates, applicants have to choose any one of the test dates. The SAT dates are official on the website while registering and are not subject to change. All details selected pertaining to SAT dates and centres are incorrigible at a later stage post submission.

Q. Can I go on a different SAT date but on my chosen centre?

A. No, applicants will not be allowed to enter the SAT exam centre if the details of the SAT date and registrations do not match. Students will have to appear for their SAT exam on their selected SAT date only and not before or after the chosen date. Once the SAT date of exam is missed, applicants will have to apply again and then appear for the exam. Please note, that such tactics will not prove beneficial for the applicants.

Q. As per the chosen SAT date when should I start preparing for the exam?

A. After choosing the SAT exam date, it'll take at least 6-12 weeks to prepare for the SAT exam depending on the applicant's previous knowledge also. Thus, SAT preparation time can vary from individual to individual. But the key to crack the SAT exam is ample practice of mock tests. Make sure you have enough time so you have the SAT score with you at the time of the application process at the foreign university as well so that they have their scores while applying.

Q. Can I apply for same SAT exam date twice?

A. No, applicants are permitted to make only one account and thus, only one SAT exam date can be chosen. There is no sense in creating two accounts for the same SAT exam date on College Board. Applicant will get only one chance to appear for any one chosen SAT exam date and cannot appear twice on the same exam date. Thus, ensure to be practical and make the correct choice while selecting an exam date and creating a single account.

Q. What is the process of rescheduling SAT dates?

A. The process for rescheduling SAT dates is simple, students will have to log in to the College Board website and click on the test they have registered for. Upon clicking it the students will get an option to reschedule it, and Change Registration option would reflect. Click on the change registration option, select the new SAT date and pay the registration fee and save the changes. Applicants will have to pay a fee of USD 25 for rescheduling the SAT exam date.

Hello Ishita! You can request a device while registering for the new SAT exam. You will have to mark your acceptance in the application for the device on which you'll be taking your exam. The device will be given to you at your chosen test centre only. Good luck!
