TOEFL Exam Eligibility 2022: Conducted by ETS, the TOEFL exam is an English language test that has been designed to assess the test takers' reading, listening, writing and speaking abilities in a university setting. In view of the pandemic, ETS the conducting body of the TOEFL exam has launched the 'TOEFL at Home' for candidates looking to take the TOEFL test during the pandemic from the safety of their homes and also resumed the TOEFL paper-delivered tests in India to help provide larger access to candidates looking to the TOEFL exam. However, the TOEFL eligibility for all formats of the TOEFL exam are the same and are going to be discussed in detail below. Candidates planning to take the TOEFL test would be required to pay a TOEFL exam fee of US$190 for all three formats of the test, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL at Home and the TOEFL paper-delivered test.

TOEFL eligibility: As informed above, in this section, we are going to be talking about the TOEFL eligibility criteria for Indian students looking to appear for the TOEFL exam. 

TOEFL Exam Age Limit

TOEFL exam eligibility age limit: ETS - the conducting body of the TOEFL exam has not set any TOEFL exam age limit for candidates looking to appear for the exam. Study abroad aspirants looking to study in an English speaking country that requires TOEFL as part of the application/admission process are free to appear for the test irrespective of their age. 

TOEFL Exam Eligibility: Qualification

While ETS has not set any academic qualification as part of the TOEFL eligibility criteria. However, by extension of admission to universities abroad, candidates should ideally have passed their 10+2 from a recognized board to be eligible to apply to universities abroad for higher education which could also double as a TOEFL eligibility for appearing for the TOEFL exam. 

TOEFL eligibility criteria: Candidates who are planning to appear for the TOEFL exam will be pleasantly surprised to learn that there is no TOEFL exam eligibility as prescribed by the ETS, the body that conducts the TOEFL test. As ETS TOEFL is an English language proficiency test, it is always advisable for students to check the requirements of the specific college/university they are applying to.

All students whose native language is not English need to appear for this exam. The universities in major English-speaking countries like the USA and Canada require students to prove their language proficiency for getting admission to their educational institutions. Who can take the TOEFL exam?  

As informed previously, the TOEFL exam is for students who wish to get admission to universities, colleges or educational institutions in English-speaking countries. TOEFL Registrations 2022

Registration for TOEFL can be done by phone, online, by mail or in person at the TOEFL 2022 test registration centre. Registration for the TOEFL exam can be done throughout the year. Documents for TOEFL Exam Eligibility

TOEFL Exam Eligibility: Document Requirements: ETS is temporarily accepting Aadhaar Cards as a primary ID for test-takers in India until further notice. The Aadhaar Card must be an original document. Photocopied or printed documents are not acceptable, and documents cannot be presented on a mobile device. Candidates can also show their valid Indian passports as part of their ID. If the candidate is of age 15 or younger he is advised to be accompanied by a parent or other authorized adult age 18 or older, who will be required to complete and sign a release form at the test centre. Both, the minor candidate and the parent or authorized person must present a valid, acceptable ID, or you will not be able to take the test. 

TOEFL Exam Dates

TOEFL Exam Dates 2022: The TOEFL iBT test is administered up to six days a week around the world at authorized test centres or at home, giving students plenty of options. Timing is important though, as appointments can fill up quickly. Candidates are advised to pick a test date that is at least 2 to 3 months before your earliest deadline and register approximately four months before your desired test date. This will give you plenty of time to work on your applications, and in case you need to retake the exam you can do so after three days of the first attempt. 

TOEFL Eligibility for re-attempts

TOEFL exam eligibility: Candidates who would be required to take the TOEFL test would be glad to know that there is no limit to the number of times a candidate can appear for the TOEFL exam. However, candidates should keep in mind that they cannot take the test more than once in a 3-day period. so there has to be a three-day window between two successive TOEFL exams.
