Founded in 1936, EFREI is a French private engineering school in Villejuif, Île-de-France, Paris. EFREI Paris is a state-recognized private university that functions as a non-profit organization. It helps to meet the academic and professional goals of roughly 2,100 students working in close partnership with an extensive network of companies. The top-notch academic curriculum and facilities have let EFREI Paris gain membership of the prestigious "Conference des Grandes Ecoles" (CGE), a French network of top business and engineering schools. The state-of-the-art, green campus also enjoys a lot of events that are regularly organized by various clubs and organizations at the institute. The research team of AllianSTIC laboratory works in collaboration with several laboratories and companies in France and Europe, focussing specifically on applied research in fast-growing fields of research, namely Big Data & Web Intelligence and Connected Objects and Indoor Location.
EFREI Paris has an extensive international network with 8,000 former students represented in over 1,000 companies. EFREI Paris graduates have occupied positions in top French and international companies, such as Project Director at Publicis, Cloud Platform Solution Engineer at Google or Director of IT audits at LVMH.
EFREI's most notable alumnus is André Truong, who created the Micral, the earliest commercial personal computer based on a microprocessor. In France, he is referred to as the father of the personal computer. Other notable alumni include Julien Coustaury, Tarik Ansari, and David Gurle. EFREI also has 23 founders amongst its alumni.
