Is there any application fees?


There is no application fee for international students. However, undergraduate students are required to pay EUR 65 as an evaluation fee* before the application deadline. The evaluation fee is not required if you are applying for a master's or doctoral programme at the university.

Scholarships & Financial Aid


Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?


The university does not provide any scholarships to international students, except Deutschlandstipendium, as students do not need to pay tuition fees. However, students can apply for other external scholarships either from their home country or Germany. The university offers partial scholarships such as Deutschlandstipendium and Niedersachsenstipendium. All students except doctoral students can apply for these scholarships. The scholarships are awarded based either on academic excellence or the financial need of students.

Part Time Work While Studying


Can I work while studying here?


Yes, international students are allowed to work on- or off-campus while studying at the university. Students from countries outside the European Union are allowed to work 120 full days or 240 half-days. If students want to work for more hours, they are required to have a valid permit from the local Immigration Office.

How many colleges and campuses does the university have?


The University of Gottingen has one main campus located in Gottingen, Germany. The campus consists of a central library, study departments, beautiful gardens, a dining hall, faculties, centres, institutions, an auditorium, a theatre, etc.

The university does not provide housing/accommodation options to its students. However, the Student Union (Gottingen Studentenwerk) offers more than 4,500 residential units to students. Students are advised to book a room as early as possible.
