How to write a Resume for UG Applications Abroad
Often under-graduate applicants find themselves in a difficult spot while drafting their resumes. They are generally confused about how to go about preparing an effective CV that showcases their skills and expertise in the most effective manner. During this course, they, more often than not, end up going overboard in including information that ultimately leads to overcrowding of the draft, which is a complete no-no for the Admission Committee.
The catch, in most cases, while preparing a high school resume, is the lack of formal work experience because of which, often, the applicant faces confusion on what to include. Here are a few tips for high school students, which may prove handy for them to make an impressive resume for their applications abroad.
Keep it Brief and To-the-Point
Avoid overcrowding your resume by providing too much and unnecessary information. Limiting the resume to one or 1.5 pages is a good idea unless you have details worth mentioning. Also, the usage of bullet points brings brevity as well as clarity to the resume.
Include All Relevant Activities
As most undergraduate applicants do not have much practical work experience, including research work and professional experience, to showcase in their resume, it becomes important for them to include activities that help the Admission Committee to form a favourable impression of their candidature. Thus, the applicant must include their extracurricular activities, community service, academic achievements and participation/ excellence in sports to demonstrate core skills.
Mention That Project
If you have ever undertaken a project or training, make sure you mention it in the resume. Even if the project/ training is remotely related to the course you are aspiring to pursue, do include it. Write the title of the project or the training, or where you undertook an internship, which organisation and city, duration (date-date), a brief description of what is involved, and your individual role/ responsibilities.
Make a Special Mention of Your Achievements/Accolades
In case you have been entrusted with a position of responsibility like Head Girl/Boy of School/College, House Captain, and Captain of any Sports/Cultural Team, or represented the school in events like Model United Nations (MUN), you MUST include it in the resume. If you have won an award or received accolades or recognition for your contribution from your school or others, particularly in high school/College, you must make it a part of your resume.
Include Technical Skills
Mention your technical skills in the resume. Any software knowledge, proficiency in computers, the Internet, or hardware, should be highlighted in the CV.
Critique Your Resume
Proofreading is a must when it comes to developing an impressive resume or any application document for that matter. Get your CV checked by someone other than you, as it will help you identify ambiguity, spelling or grammatical mistakes.

Ma'am,
I am going to appear for the SAT on 7th of October. For me that's not an issue , the problem is that I am unable to select colleges and gather information about them , and I am also facing a problem of what to get written in the LOR and what to write in admission essays as well as resume .

Hello mam I am in class 11 science stream I want to do bsc computer science but I got 74% in class 10, I have bundle of academic achievement with internship experience will class 10 result effect my resume?

Hi Akshay,
Class 10 result would matter only if your Class 11 and 12 are not good. Essentially all of them are considered for your bachelors programs but you still have two years. Build on your profile and it should not put a real dent in your career.
