We all know how important English proficiency scores are for admission to universities abroad. Germany is no exception. Public Universities in Germany are renowned for offering top-notch education at no tuition cost. Candidates applying to public universities across Germany are required to only pay an administration fee ranging between 300 – 500 euros at the start of every semester as part of their tuition. However, private universities across Germany have a different story. The cost of studying at private universities across Germany can be anywhere between 26,000 euros - 40,000 euros depending on your level of study.

When we talk about the cost of living in Germany, it is the same for both public as well as private universities. International students wanting to study in Germany would be required to open a Block Account. Every year, according to the prevailing economic conditions as well as the relevant fees structure, every university would request that a monthly sum be provided for the student to facilitate his living expenses in the country as well as for completing his education, this money is deposited in a Blocked Account. As of January 1, 2022, keeping the rate of inflation in mind, the mandatory amount required in the Blocked Account for studying in Germany is €10,332 for an entire year or €861 for a month.

However what is common in all this? Whether a candidate wants to pursue his education at a public university or at a private university he would be required to apply to the university first. The IELTS scores are an important factor for every German University application process. Due to the pandemic while a lot of the universities have temporarily done away with strict admission guidelines and relaxed application norms. Is 7 bands in IELTS good for Germany?

In Germany, most universities require an IELTS overall band score of 6.0 or 6.5 out of 9.0 as an English language qualification for a master’ course. It is important to note that some universities have been known to require a 6.0 band in all four individual modules of the IELTS exam. Some universities also have an IELTS requirement of 7.0 band (overall). Coming to your question, an overall band score of 7.0 to 7.5 should satisfy the IELTS requirement of 99% of the universities in Germany.
