More than 100 years old, University College Dublin (UCD) is a public university based in Dublin, Ireland. Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking) has consistently placed UCD at 301-400 from 2016 to 2020. Whereas, QS (Top universities) has improved UCD's position from 193rd for 2019 to 177th for 2021 in its world university ranking. This reflects that over the last three years, UCD has improved its performance on important ranking parameters used by QS to determine world university ranking. Academic reputation, citations per faculty, and faculty/student ratio are some of the key parameters on which QS evaluates the universities.
Another major publisher, THE (Times Higher Education) has continuously ranked UCD at 201-250 from 2016 to 2020 and dropped to 251-300 for 2021 in its best university ranking. US News & World Report has placed UCD at 226th rank for 2021 in its global universities ranking.
