Q. How well internationally ranked is Politecnico di Milano?

A. In general, Politecnico di Milano has been ranked first in Italy and 137th internationally by the QS World University Rankings. In 2021, the university has been recognized by the QS Rankings by subject, among the first 20 universities in the world, for engineering & technology. It has also been ranked 10th and 5th for architecture and design subjects, respectively.

Q. Will I require a visa to study at Politecnico di Milano if I’m an international student?

A. Yes, all the non-EU students wishing to study in Italy will need a visa. You will be able to file an application for it no sooner than three months before you plan to arrive in Italy. In case you wish to stay there for more than 90 days, you will also require your validated original admission letter (which is stamped at the Embassy).

Q. Can I work while studying at Politecnico di Milano?

A. Yes, students are permitted to take up part-time work upto 20 hours per week. They can also opt for internships which have working duration of maximum 40 hours per week.

Q. How much tuition fee do non-EEA students need to pay for studying in Politecnico di Milano?

A. Non-EEA students will have their tuition fees correspond automatically to the full payment of 3.891,59 €. The 1st installment corresponds to 888,59 € and the 2nd to 3.003 €. Depending upon the number of credits in the study plan, the amount can be adjusted.

Q. Can I attend a single course at Politecnico di Milano?

A. Yes, students can study single courses, during one semester or one academic year, selecting not more than 32 ECTS credits from both Laurea (= B.Sc) & Laurea Magistrale (=M.Sc), within the degree course program.

Q. What qualifications do I need if I wish to study a bachelor’s course at Politecnico di Milan?

A. If a student wishes to get enrolled for a Laurea (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree), he/she should possess a secondary school qualification (obtained after 12 years of overall schooling). Also, the qualification should have been granted after atleast two years of attending the same education system.

Q. Are there any scholarships available for studying at Politecnico di Milano?

A. Yes, students who get admitted to a Laurea (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) course will be able to apply for Diritto allo Studio (DSU) scholarships, which are financial & merit-based scholarships granted after a call of grant is issued.

Q. Is it mandatory to possess a knowledge of English language to study at Politecnico di Milano?

A. Yes, the knowledge of English language is mandatory for pursuing all the academic courses at Politecnico di Milano. Different programs have set different parameters for English proficiency. Also, at present (2022), international students will have to appear for an Italian language proficiency test who wish to study a course equal to 3-year B.Sc program in Architectural Design and a course equal to 3-year B.Sc program in Civil Engineering.

A. Among the documents which you have to submit are statement of comparability of your degree, Italian fiscal code, your visa, permit of stay, and others which will be conveyed to you once your admission is confirmed. The ISO will send you a comprehensive guide as well.
