  • The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by the University.
  • The award will be granted by the Associate Vice-President (Academic) and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Awards and Medals Committee.
  • Awarded annually to a graduate student (full-time or part-time) who focuses their research or scholarly work on the intersection of anti-racism in any subject area at Memorial University
  • They can be eligible to receive the award again if they complete their program and start another graduate program (e.g., second master's degree)

Preference will be given to following candidates:

Preference will be given to students from equity-seeking groups, particularly Indigenous groups, or students who have served equity-seeking groups through volunteer work. An individual can only receive the award once per graduate studies program

Application process:

  • To apply, students must submit an application to the School of Graduate Studies via email at sgs@mun.ca by the deadline date.
  • The scholarship application would consist of a cover letter, a CV with a list of appropriate publications and/or presentations, a one-to-two page statement indicating how their research or scholarly work focuses on the intersection of anti-racism in any subject area at Memorial University, a current transcript, and two letters of reference.
