Scholarship Overview

 The Global Study Awards was started co-jointly by the British Council, the International Student Identity Card Association, and StudyPortals. The Global Study Awards is recommended for students who have successfully taken the IELTS exam and show exceptional promise. Candidates can enter the competition if they plan to use their IELTS results to apply to a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program in an English-speaking country.

This merit-based scholarship is responsible for helping the most promising students to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree that will help them bring about positive change. To be eligible for the scholarship, students are required to be over 18 years of age, plan to study abroad on an undergraduate or postgraduate course, and appear for the IELTS exam.

Deserving students are required to show a strong commitment to developing their careers and a sincere interest in increasing intercultural coherence. Every year, two winners are selected to receive the award. The maximum individual award is for £10,000 which would be paid directly to the higher education institution where the applicants plan to study. In case the tuition fee is below the maximum fund amount, the remaining funds would be allocated towards their living costs for a maximum of 52 weeks, starting from when they first registered at the institution.

• The Award prize will be applied toward the cost of tuition fees in the first instance, paid directly to the Higher Education Institution that the successful candidate will attend
• If tuition fees are below the maximum individual award fund of £10,000, the remaining funds may be allocated per diem for living costs for a maximum of 52 weeks starting from when the student first registered at the higher education institution

Eligibility

• Interview - Strong applicants will be shortlisted and invited for an interview (via Skype) prior to the final winning selection
• The Global Study Awards will be available to prospective students in all countries worldwide
• Applicants:
  • must be 18 years or over on the study programme start date
  • must have taken an IELTS test at a British Council centre, and receive an official Test Report Form (TRF) issued by the British Council after the 1st of June 2017
  • must have a valid International Student Identity Card(ISIC) and/or International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) at the time of application
  • must be planning to enrol on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme abroad in the autumn term 
• The Global Study Awards is designed to support highly motivated, talented individuals who can actively demonstrate:
  • their potential to contribute to society through their studies;
  • a strong commitment to developing their career;
  • their sincere interest in increasing intercultural understanding and exchange
