Scholarship Overview

Lady Meherbai D.Tata Education Trust Scholarship is offered by the Lady Meherbai D.Tata Education Trust to women (Indian) graduates to fulfill their dream of pursuing higher education abroad. The scholarship covers the tuition fee component. The scholarship is awarded in the following fields of study:

• Education
• Social work
• Child health – Development and nutrition
• Public health – Community health services, reproductive health
• Rural development work
• Education and welfare of children with special needs
• Health policy and health education — mental health
• Research and study of social norms in communities
• Development studies (applications in the field of sustainable development, social development, social policy, and public policy)

 

• This is a merit-based, overseas masters scholarship programme designed for women graduates engaged in social work, social science, public health, and welfare of women and children
• Established in 1933, the trust has been following a rigorous selection procedure, with the trustees taking a keen interest in the selection process. Each year, up to 10 women benefit from this scholarship

Eligibility criteria to apply for Lady Meherbai D.Tata Education Trust Scholarship:

• Graduate Indian women (graduated from a recognized university)
• Excellent academic record consistently
• Must have applied or secured admission to a well-known accredited university in the US, UK or Europe
• 2 years’ work experience preferred

Selection criteria and scholarship amount

• A scholarship amount ranges from 3-6 lakh is given based on the performance of the candidate in the personal interview
• Shortlisted candidates will need to give a personal interview with the trustees
• Successful candidates need to show proof of at least 50% of the funding

Candidates who have already started their courses abroad are not eligible to apply for the Lady Meherbai D.Tata Education Trust Scholarship.

Application Process for this scholarship

Application Process:

• At the first step, applicants will submit a neatly-typed letter/email giving details of the course they wish to pursue, the University to be attended, the course fee required, sources of funding, and their current profile along with documents for the same
• Then they will receive an application form from the Trust
• Students are requested to submit the completed forms along with all the required documents by the deadline, at the Trust’s office at- Bombay House, 2nd floor, Homi Mody Street, Mumbai - 400 001
