Scholarship Overview

Formerly the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program, Google’s Women Techmakers (WTM) program aims to create gender equality in the tech industry by encouraging women to excel and take lead roles in this field. The aim of this scholarship is to build a world where women can carve a niche in tech. Google proudly honors’ Anita’s memory and support women in technology with the following scholarship programs:

• Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science (APAC, EMEA, and NA)
• Women Techmakers Scholarship for gaming in partnership with Stadia, Google’s all-new gaming platform (EMEA and NA)
• Women Techmakers Irish University Scholarship (Ireland)

The Scholars Program comprises the following elements:

• Scholarship: Award based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership skills, and impact on the community of women in the tech field
• Retreat: A glorious opportunity to connect with Google mentors and Fellow scholars and participate in training and workshops for professional and personal development
• Community: To participate in an online network designed to share resources and collaborate with fellow scholars program participants

Female undergraduate students who are currently enrolled (in their first and second year of study) will be selected from the pool of applicants. Candidates are selected on the basis of their excellent academic background, demonstrated leadership skills, and passion for technology. Apart from getting the scholarship amount, Google’s Women Techmakers (WTM) program's recipients are also invited to participate in various programs at Google. WTM scholarship program is majorly for students belonging to India, Taiwan, China, Macau, and Hong Kong.

Eligibility criteria for applying to Google’s Women Techmakers (WTM) program:

• Identify as a female
• Applicant to be studying in the first or second year of their undergraduate program
• Currently enrolled at a recognized university as a full-time undergraduate program
• Excellent academic record
• Applicant must be studying Computer Science, Computer engineering or any technical program

Eligibility

• Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s degree for the 2021-2022 academic year
• Be in your 2nd year of study at an accredited university in Asia Pacific country when completing the scholarship program
• Be studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field
• Demonstrate a strong academic record
• Exemplify leadership and demonstrate passion for improving representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology

Any enquiries sent within this period will be responded to after this time.  We will be looking at the applications over the next few weeks and if eligible for the scholarship - Prospective will hear from us by the January 7, 2022 to invite you to participate in Google's Online Challenge, scheduled for January 14-15, 2022. There will be no other Online Challenge rounds post this date
