Criteria to Study in Germany without IELTS 2023
A lot of times, universities can exempt candidates from submitting English language scores. These situations could vary and include the following:
Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate: Some of the universities in Germany allow international students to study in Germany without IELTS whose previous education has been completed in an English Medium School. In order to prove proficiency in English, you need to get a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from a previous educational institute.
Class 12th English Scores: Many universities that offer admission in Germany without IELTS need the class 12th English Language scores of students. In exceptional circumstances, universities may require the 10th class marks. Like if you have scored more than 70% in English in 10th and 12th then universities can consider this as proof of English proficiency.
Online Interview: Few universities may ask students to appear for online interviews through Skype. They will assess your English Language proficiency through this interview.
Pandemic restrictions: Due to the pandemic, a lot of universities could have either relaxed their English language scores or opted to accept Home Edition test scores or Duolingo English Test (DET) scores to provide students ease of access to tests keeping student safety in mind.
Germany Study Visa without IELTS
The second part of the study in Germany without IELTS includes your Germany study visa. Candidates should note that the German Student Visa process is an independent process and candidates are required to submit their English language scores as part of the German Study Visa process. Hence, if applicants are not comfortable with the IELTS exam they can opt for the TOEFL exam before applying for the German study visa.
Steps to applying for a German Study Visa:
- As soon as you have received the admission letter from your German university, please prepare the necessary documentation for your visa application mentioned above.
- Procure photos that meet biometric photo requirements as specified on the official website.
- Fill out the Application form for National Visa. Print it out, sign it, and submit it along with the other documents.
- Please print out the Declaration on true and complete information also found on the official website, and sign it.
- Schedule an appointment for your visa interview at the German Mission.
- Shortly before your appointment, verify the current exchange rate for your visa fee on the official German Mission website and obtain the Demand Draft.
