Also called STIU, Stamford International University Thailand is a for-profit private international university that offers graduate and postgraduate level education. It was started as an international college in 1995. In 2000, it made an educational association with Schiller International University to become Schiller-Stamford International College. Later in 2003, it received the status of a full-time university. In 2004, it became a self-governing institution and was renamed as Stamford International University.

The university offers academic facilities through its three campuses. Hua Hin campus, founded in 1995, is known as its first campus. In 2009, the university opened its second campus, called Rama 9 Campus to offer international education in the country and the Southeast Asian Nations. In 2015, the university established an additional campus, namely the Asoke Campus Learning Center in the centre of the business district of Bangkok. All the campuses of the university are well-equipped with modern facilities, accommodation facilities and other essential services to create an ideal learning atmosphere for students. The university offers international and Thai undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. These programs are provided in a number of areas, including communication, business and management, hospitality management and information technology. Other than this, the university offers programmes and degrees that are officially certified by the Thailand's Ministry of University Affairs (MUA) and Ministry of Education (MoE).

The university has a vibrant population of students coming from more than 100 countries. More than 40 per cent of the student population is international. The university maintains an enrolment of more than 4,000 students. It provides a variety of facilities from sports to different clubs and organisations. The university has a student council to encourage and support students to join clubs and activities in order to create an active university atmosphere. Students can participate in various sports, including football, basketball, volleyball and badminton. Apart from this, there are a dance club, music club, Rotaract Club and more.

The university has graduated a large number of students since its establishment. The alumni are now working in different areas from business to the entertainment sector. Nonthawan Thongleng (Actress), Pataradanai Setsuwan (Singer), Han Thi (Actress) and Sinchanok Klaitae (Singer) are some of the known alumni of the university.
