The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) was established as the Institute of Australian Studies (IAS) by the University of Wollongong (UOW) in Australia in 1993. In 1995, it became a 'feeder college' where students finished some part of a degree in IT or business and then left for Australia to complete the program. In October 2000, the institute was officially opened as UOW, Dubai Campus. It was established as UOWD in 2004.
