Cranfield University, also known as the UK Specialist Postgraduate University, has established its foundation in not only teaching excellent programmes but also as an impeccable research centre. As a British postgraduate and research-based public university, Cranfield offers specialisations in STEM education and Management streams.


With about 39 specialisations, Cranfield offers more than 150 taught degrees and over 480 professional development courses. Since it is a post-graduate university, there are no undergraduate or bachelor’s courses offered to the international aspirants.

What are the eligibility requirements?

  • Bachelor’s degree in honours or a professional subject
  • English proficiency score of either of the following:

  • At least three years of work experience
  • Standardised exam score of either of the following:
    • GMAT: Over 600
    • GRE: Minimum 80th percentile for both verbal and quantitative reasoning
  • English proficiency score of either of the following:
    • IELTS: 7 overall
    • TOEFL: 100
    • PTE Academic: 68
    • Cambridge English Scale: 190
    • Cambridge English – Advanced: C grade
    • Cambridge English – Proficiency: C grade
    • Trinity College London ISE III: Pass

PhD Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree* with a first or upper-second class
  • Master’s degree* in a taught subject
  • English proficiency score** of either of the following:
    • IELTS: Minimum overall score of 7.0 and minimum writing score of 6.5
    • TOEFL Internet-based Test: Minimum total score of 100 and minimum writing score of 26
    • PTE Academic: Minimum overall score of 68
    • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: Minimum of Grade C
    • Cambridge English Scale: Minimum scale score of 190 in any scale scored test
    • Trinity College London ISE III: Pass

*Non-UK graduates must be able to provide equivalent international qualification.

**English proficiency test score should not be older than two years.

Note: The applicants who do not meet the necessary entry requirements of English tests may attend Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. Cranfield offers these courses as part of its Winter, Spring, and Summer programmes.

When do the admissions start?

There are three intakes to apply for all the study programmes at Cranfield University:

Note: There are no deadlines as the admission process goes all year long. As soon as admission window for the current year closes, the window for next year opens. This allows Cranfield’s aspirants to apply any time of the year.

What are the steps to the application process? Does this involve an interview round?

International students may log on the official website of Cranfield University and apply for Taught as well as Research courses.

Graduate Applicants

The graduate aspirants need to follow the steps given below:

Step 3: Read the course details thoroughly.

Step 4: Click on ‘Apply Now’ button.

Step 5: Choose the complete course title and mode of attendance.

Step 6: Enter the month and year to begin the course in.

Step 7: Click on ‘Apply Online’ button (refer to the screenshot below).

Step 8: Create a new account by clicking on ‘New User’ option.

Step 10: Add the security questions (save a copy of the answers offline).

Step 11: Press the ‘Start Application’ button and start filling the detailed form.

The form is quite lengthy and requires the applicants to fill in all the details and submit the supporting documents without any fail.

MBA Applications

The MBA applicants can check their eligibility by filling the form at Students need to fill their personal, educational, and professional information in the given slots and attach the relevant documents before clicking the ‘Submit Form’ button. Also, the form requires its students to fill in the GMAT and IELTS test scores along with their supporting documents.

When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?

On an average, Cranfield University gives its admission decisions in two to three weeks. There may be several reasons leading to a rejected application. The common reasons being:

  • University receiving a lot of better applications than seats available in a course
  • Applicants failing to meet the standard entry requirements

Under any case of an unsuccessful application, the university is not liable to provide feedback to the applicants explaining the reasons behind an acceptance or rejection. However, if students wish to attain feedback on a rejected application, they may send an email* to the Admissions Office for Cranfield campus and Registry for Shrivenham campus. The authorities revert to such queries within 10 working days.

Can I work while studying here?

International students belonging to non-EEA countries*, such as India need to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • During the term, work up to a maximum of 20 hours in a week (no restriction of working hours during holidays)

How to Apply:

Cranfield sends login credentials to the Student Web Portal – EVE along with the offer letter. International students need to choose their preferred accommodation on this online portal and apply for the same.

Best Time to Apply:

Cranfield’s on-campus accommodation is offered on a first come first serve basis. Since accommodation is limited, early applicants are more likely to receive accommodations. International students must apply for accommodation as soon as possible after receiving the EVE login from the university.

Tip: Keep all the visa formalities and financial documents ready to get a study visa on time. Read when to start thinking about finances to remain ready for on-time abroad application.

Students with Medical Conditions:

Cranfield considers students with medical conditions whose applications need special attention and facilities. As the on-campus accommodation is offered to early applicants, it is recommended that students with medical condition request their applications to be prioritised in advance.

Process: Students must inform the accommodation authorities of Cranfield in advance and provide them with a medical letter from their doctors. This letter must explain why their applications need to be prioritised for on-campus accommodation.

Cranfield Off-Campus Accommodation
