Established in 1964, the Edinburgh Napier University is a publically-owned institution for higher education in Edinburgh, Scotland. Founded as Napier Technical College, the institution started operating with 800 students enrolled for courses like cabinet making, chemistry, engineering, and boat building.
It was granted the university status in the year 1992 as Napier University. Institution's name was changed four times before it finally adopted the current title in 2009. Named after John Napier, the designer of the decimal point and logarithms, the university is affiliated to MillionPlus.
The university has three campuses: Sighthill, Merchiston, and Craiglockhart. The Sighthill Campus serves more than 5,000 students and staff of the Schools of Applied Sciences and Health & Social Care. Facilities include life-like hospital wards, a clinical skills suite, sports science labs and [EN]GAGE sports center. The Craiglockhart Campus houses the law and business schools and buildings of Craiglockhart Hydropathic Hospital. It also incorporates an extensive library, two lecture auditoria, language, and multimedia labs.

The university has nearly 19,500 students studying with Edinburgh Napier across our three campuses in Edinburgh and through transnational education overseas. There are around 3,500 international students from 140 countries at the university. The academic structure of the university is divided into six specialist schools and Institutes of Research and Innovation. The university offers a plethora of programs in accounting, education, law, arts, applied sciences, engineering, business, tourism, management, health, social service, and computer science. It also extends a range of courses in creative studies such as graphic design, music, communication, publishing, filming, acting, and product design. Students can pursue different degree programs on-campus or online.
Edinburgh Napier has academic partnerships with several universities in China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and other countries of the world. These partnerships facilitate students and faculty exchange programs for enhanced learning and international exposure.
