Established in 1733, St. the George's University of London is an open research university that is associated with the University of London and St George's Hospital. The university is known to be the first university in the United Kingdom to offer a four-year program in medical science. In its year of establishment, the university began building a hospital. Initially, it featured two wards and thirty patients, and by 1734, it consisted of over 250 patients along with 15 wards. Moreover, a famous surgeon, John Hunter started taking medical classes in 1756 to provide the best practical knowledge to university students. The surgeon was known as the Father of Modern Surgery and is credited with detailed human anatomy.
The campus is located in the south-west area of London and is home to laboratories that allow students to practice under real-life situations including medical emergencies. In addition, clinical skill laboratories, and trauma centers are all within the premises. Overall, students get a number of opportunities to sharpen their skills, practice for real-life situations, and gain ample exposure. The campus is designed beautifully and well-maintained. It is covered with lots of greenery. Also, accommodation facilities are available for students. And, these are only a few meters away from the campus. The hostels have dining areas, fully-equipped kitchen rooms, along with plasma television in the middle of the hall. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the campus and students can also avail laundry facilities at the hostel.
