University Ranking
More than 100 years old, Queen Victoria established The University of Birmingham in 1900. It is part of the Russell Group of universities that is known for academic excellence. QS World University ranking and US News & World Report have ranked it among the top 100 universities worldwide since 2017 and 2016 respectively. This means that Birmingham University has an excellent academic reputation among scholars and top educationists. Also, The Guardian, which is highly regarded in the UK has consistently ranked it among the top 20 universities in the UK from 2017 to 2020.
Similarly, another major ranking provider The Complete University Guide has also placed The University of Birmingham in the top 20 universities in the UK for the last 5 years. This proves that the university is recognised beyond the UK. ARWU (Shanghai Ranking) has continuously placed it under 101-150th position for 5 consecutive years ending 2020. It has improved its THE's best university ranking for global universities. In 2017, it was placed 130th position whereas in 2021 it has been ranked at 107th position.

The University of Birmingham has made an outstanding contribution to cancer studies and researches. It has 5 academic colleges which further includes around 100 departments.
