What are the courses available to international students?

What are the eligibility requirements?

The eligibility requirements for international students depend on the country to which they belong. These requirements are subject to change as per the courses in which the students wish to enrol. The eligibility requirements for the Indian students are listed below:

Basic Requirements

  • A Higher Secondary School Certificate score of 70%+ from a recognised board is a must for the students who wish to apply for the UG programmes
  • Students who hold IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma with points ranging from 32 to 35 can also apply directly to bachelor-level degree courses
  •  Must hold an Indian bachelor’s degree with a score of 52%+ from a recognised university
  • Students who hold a master’s degree from Indian universities can apply for postgraduate research, i.e., PhD or MPhil programmes

English Requirements

  • IELTS score >=6.0 with a score of at least 5.5 in each component
  • PTE Academic score >=50 with a score of at least 42 in each component
  • IELTS score >=6.0 with a score of at least 5.5 in 2 components and 6.0 in the remaining ones
  • PTE Academic score >=50 with a score of at least 42 in two components and 48 in remaining ones

The university offers an English language programme for students who are unable to meet the English language requirements. However, students scoring 70% or above in the English language in the higher secondary level in Indian boards, including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), Indian School Certificate (ISC), West Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa, Delhi, need not attend the English language programme.

Note: The academic requirements and the English language proficiency test scores can vary as per the programme. Also, some programmes might require extra qualifications and may require the students to undergo additional tests. Therefore, students are advised to refer to the university’s website for exact details about entry requirements.

What are the documents needed for the application?

The university expects students to send their original documents, but if students are unable to submit them, they should provide a reason for it in a covering letter. All documents must be in English. If some documents are not in English, students must provide the original copy along with a translated copy obtained from a translator. The documents required for the undergraduate courses are given below:

  • Academic transcripts
  • Test scores of proficiency in English for non-native English speakers
  • CAS statement (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies)
  • A copy of a valid passport
  • Proof of sufficiency of funds (bank statement, scholarships, sponsorship letters, etc.)
  • Police registration certificate (if required)

The documents required for the postgraduate courses include the following:

  • Academic transcripts

  • ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) for the postgraduate programmes and courses provided in the list of the ATAS section on the UK government website
  • Biometric Residence Permit status on VISA (if available)
  • A copy of a valid passport
  • Financial statements, scholarships, sponsorship letters, or any other document validating the sufficiency of funds
  • Police registration certificate (if required)

Application & Tuition Fees

Is there any tuition fees?

When applying to postgraduate and undergraduate courses, the application fee for one course is 20 GBP or INR 1,988.50. When applying for more than one course, the application fee is 25 GBP or INR 2,485.62. Students who wish to apply for the postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes need to pay GBP 2,000 as an international deposit. This is a refundable fee paid to ensure selection upon acceptance of their application forms.

An annual increase of 4% on both undergraduate and postgraduate fees will apply to the students continuing the course at the University of Anglia. The raise also depends on the regulations specified by the UK Government.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

The academic credentials of a student are considered while providing scholarships to international students. These scholarships are mostly awarded as a tuition fee reduction and vary according to the applied programme and region to which the students belong. International students can consider applying for the following scholarships:

International Development Scholarships

  • The university provides International Development scholarships for students of South Korea, South America, and some other countries. The scholarship award depends on the country from which a student comes.
  • These scholarships apply to postgraduate students with a degree of 2:1 classification or equivalent. Those who have received the admission offer from the university are also eligible for this scholarship.
  • The students need to submit an application form comprising a 250-word written summary regarding their career goals, academic qualifications, and aspirations to be considered for this scholarship.

International Excellence Scholarship

  • The International Excellence Scholarship applies to international students who have applied for the PG Taught programmes of the university and secured the international fee status offered by the university. Students from any international country can apply for this scholarship via the application form provided on the official website of UEA.
  • An award of GBP 4,000 is given to the students who manage to win this scholarship.

You can apply for undergraduate and postgraduate courses as soon as the intake process commences following the steps mentioned above. Students who do not have conventional educational qualifications and those who wish to seek direct entry in Year 2 may be called for an interview.

What are the chances of getting into the University of East Anglia?

Part Time Work While Studying

Can I work while studying here?

The University of East Anglia allows its students to work part-time during the term of their degree. This is allowed under the tier 4 visa. The working hours allowed for undergraduate, postgraduate (taught), and postgraduate (research) students is 20 hours a week. Under the tier 4 visa, the following is not allowed:

  • Full-time employment
  • Employment as a training dentist or doctor
  • Employment as an entertainer, coach, or sportsperson
