What all courses are available to international students?
The University of Manchester offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in 70 subject areas. Research programmes are offered in 88 fields of study. Apart from this, postgraduate certificates and diplomas and continuing professional development programmes are also available at the university.
Foundation Year Courses
These are bridging courses for undergraduate international students who do not meet the direct entry requirements in their chosen degree. Some of these courses also offer additional English language courses for students who require to upgrade their English proficiency or skills.
Pre-sessional English
Open to all international aspirants, pre-sessional courses help students to develop their academic skills in English as per course requirement. These courses are also open to students that do not meet the English language requirement for their chosen degree.

All documents submitted during the application process need to be original drafts and in English or translated into English. Students should also get their documents evaluated by trusted credential evaluators.

Is there any application fees?
The University of Manchester charges a non-refundable amount of GBP 20 for undergraduate programmes as per UCAS. For PG programme, there is no application fee for most courses. For a few courses like MBA, a non-refundable application fee of GBP 60 may be charged.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?
Country-specific and course-specific scholarships are offered to international students by the university. To Indian students, it provides more than GBP 1,00,000 of funding as financial assistance. A scholarship’s amount may range from GBP 5,000 to GBP 10,000, depending on the course. Moreover, the Indian students are also eligible for the GREAT scholarship and the Manchester Science and Engineering International Excellence scholarships. Admission Process
When do the admissions start?
The University of Manchester offers UG programmes in the Fall Intakes only and PG programmes in the Fall and Spring Intakes. Check the university website to know about courses offered in each intake. For international students, the UG deadline is usually in June; however, the university advises students to apply by the UK/EU students’ deadline of January. For students applying to Oxford/Cambridge or Manchester’s Medicine/Dentistry course, the deadline is in October. PG programmes have no official closing dates, but the university advises aspirants to apply as early as possible. Deadlines for PG courses can be found in the respective course/school webpage.
How to apply to UG courses?
Similar to UK residents, as an international student, you can apply to the University of Manchester through the UCAS website only. You can keep track of your application status through UCAS Track. After assessing the applications, the university will contact you for an interview round.
How to apply to PG courses?
The university has a separate application portal where aspirants of PG Taught and PG Research programmes can apply to Manchester directly.

Step 1: Enter your e-mail ID, security code, and password. Then click on ‘Register’ and login to start your application process.
Step 2: Read the terms and conditions carefully and accept the undertaking, which will lead you to the following page. Select the programme type (Academic Career), ‘Mode of Attendance’, and search for your course.
Step 3: Choose the course from the list and click on ‘Apply’ to start filling the application form.
Step 4: Enter your details, test scores, and upload your personal statement as per each section. Remember to complete all the nine sections and review them before submitting the application.
Note: Your application will be deleted after 28 days of inactivity. Read the instructions on the website carefully before applying.
When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?
UG decisions are usually communicated in a month after the application submission. Some courses may adopt a ‘fielded approach’ for assessing applications, which may delay the decisions. The admissions committee usually reverts on these applications by the UCAS deadline. The university keeps such applicants personally informed about the final decision. PG decisions are declared as soon as possible. There are no fixed timelines for such reverts.

In 2018-2019, the University of Manchester welcomed 40,250 students across all its programmes. Out of this, 11,545 were international students from over 160 countries. Students with a Tier 4 Visa need to follow part-time and full-time work rules as per the UK Council for International Student Affair (UKCISA).
