The University of Salford has a rich history of collaborating with businesses to advance its conventional nursing, manufacturing, and sports medicine capabilities.

According to the National Student Survey 2020, 83% of Salford graduates were happy with their university experience. Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?


Santander provides financial assistance to Salford students worth GBP 300,000 a year for just 200 students.

Discounts, grants, bursaries, and waivers are available to international students at Salford University. In the last five years, the University of Salford has given away 5 million pounds in scholarships, loans, and bursaries to exceptional international students.

  • The Salford Foreign Achievement Award

This scholarship is provided to exceptional and innovative international students from regions where no other scholarships are eligible. To be considered for the award, applicants must have appropriate job experience and have been offered a position at the University of Salford for the second or third year. The scholarship is worth between GBP 1,000 and GBP 5,000, and it can only be applied for online via the university's website.

  • India Scholarship

Based on academic merit, these scholarships are provided to high-achieving Indian undergraduate and graduate students at Salford. Undergraduate candidates must have ‘A level grades ABB' or the equivalent. In contrast, graduate applicants must have a minimum requirement of a second-tier upper degree and follow the contract’s terms by the admissions deadline to be considered. The scholarship is worth 3,000 pounds.

  • Scholarship for International Excellence in Energy Industries

This is a 5,000 GBP scholarship for international students offered a position on the MSc Petroleum and Gas Engineering or MSc Gas Engineering and Management programs. Since it is an automatic entry scholarship, it does not require a separate application outside the admission requirement. Applicants must have a minimum of a lower second-class degree and be able and willing to pay the tuition fee deposit when admitted.

Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship For International Students, NCUK-Salford

  • The Year of the Foundation (IFY)

International students with an invitation for an undergraduate program after finishing the NCUK foundation year with a minimum EAP C and 128 UCAS points are qualified for this NCUK scholarship. This scholarship is worth a total of 5000 GBP.

  • NCUK-Salford International Year One Excellence Scholarship 

Undergraduate candidates with at least EAP C or comparable in NCUK International Year 1 and 65% of 120 credits are qualified for this scholarship. The scholarship is worth GBP 3,000.

  • The NCUK-Salford Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is open to postgraduate students who have completed the NCUK pre-program master's (PMP) with an EAP C or equivalent, have 65% of 120 credits, and have been accepted into a postgraduate course. The scholarship is worth GBP 3,000.

Part Time Work While Studying


Can I work while studying here?


International students may be required to work part-time if funded by Tier 4 while training at the University of Salford. However, students are limited on the form and quantity of work they may perform by law.

As an international student, you are not allowed to:

  • Act like a professional athlete (including a coach) or entertainer in some capacity
  • Be a self-employed worker or the director of a company in the United Kingdom (please be aware that while you can own your own business overseas, any time spent working on it while in the UK does count towards your work restriction limit).

The amount of work you will perform is limited by your research degree and applies to both compensated and unpaid (voluntary) work.

Please keep in mind that the maximum amount of hours you can work each week ranges from Monday to Sunday (7 days). You must be sure that your working pattern corresponds to this definition.
