The University of the West of Scotland was formed in 2007 after the merger of the University of Paisley with Bell College, Hamilton. Before the formation of this university, there is a huge chain of history. This university inherits the legacy of a number of great universities, colleges, and schools such as Paisley School of Art, University of Paisley, Bell College of Technology, Craigie College of Education, Dumfries, Galloway College of Nursing.
Located in Scotland, this university comprises four campuses which are located in the towns- Paisley, Lanarkshire, Dumfries, and Ayr. This university also has a campus in London, England. Each campus of this university is equivalent in terms of infrastructure and studying environment. Situated 10 minutes to Ayr town center, the Ayr campus has all the essential facilities such as lecture rooms and classrooms, studios, laboratories, library, and gymnasium. The Paisley campus is located a few miles away from Central Glasgow and provides numerous facilities including midwifery teaching areas and skills labs. The Lanarkshire campus is situated in the Hamilton International Technology Park and has all the requisite facilities such as gym, health and fitness facilities, auditorium, executive boardroom, conference space, executive lounge, nursing and midwifery laboratories, library and computing facilities. The campus in London is currently in the process of getting relocated.
This university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience courses in subjects such as business, computing, creative industries, education, engineering, health, life sciences, physical and chemical sciences, social sciences and sports. The courses are also available in different study modes such as full time, part-time and online. This university also offers research degrees.
This university has a strong alumni portfolio which comprises of many bigwigs. Gordon McConnell, who graduated from this university, is popularly known as the chief engineer of the world-known Airbus A350. Entrepreneur Lesley Dalziel did her MBA from this university. Businessman and philanthropist Les Hutchison did his HNC Electrical Engineering from this university.
