Research programmes have rolling admission, thus, they are open for admission all around the year with no fixed deadlines. PG taught courses have different deadlines depending on the course and intake chosen by the applicant. UG deadlines are as per UCAS, so usually international deadlines are in mid-January (most courses) and June (if seats remain vacant). Post this deadline, the applications are sent into Clearing. International applicants are advised to apply at least six to nine months in advance, so that they have enough time for visa processes, if admitted.
What is the UG application process?
For undergraduate courses at York (such as BA, BSc, and BEng), international applicants need to apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) portal. You can apply independently or through a university agent present in your state/country.
What is the PG application process?
International applicants can apply online directly to the university for taught postgraduate courses (MA, MSc, MRes, PG Diploma, PG Certificate and LLM) and research degrees (MPhil, PhD and MA/MSc by research). A few courses like MA Social Work and PGCE have a different application process.

Student Diversity & Preferred Profile
What are the chances to get into this university?
The university has high standards when it comes to reviewing candidates for admission, yet the competition is moderate. York lays special emphasis on contributions in areas of life other than academics. However, some departments and schools remain more competitive than others. For example, the University of York Management School, is one of the most sought-after schools globally, and admission can be difficult. An 85% score in your boards/university is considered low for an application even to be considered for Business programmes. The process is less difficult for departments of Linguistics or pure Science.

Currently, out of the 20,000 students on university campuses, 4,000 are international students. There are 154 South Asian students, of which 110 are Indian.
