The Academy of Art University is a private university established in the year 1929. This for-profit university was earlier known as the Academy of Art College. It was set up as a School for Advertising Art by Richard S. Stephens. In the year 1933, the fashion illustration course was introduced, followed by the foundation of the Fine Art department in 1936. The graduate course was launched in 1977, and it was granted acceptance in 1983. This university is officially certified with the WASC Senior College, National Architectural Accrediting Board, and University Commission, and Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
