Aurora University (AU) is a reputable private university in Aurora, Illinois, that was established as a seminary in 1893. It focuses on promoting honesty, citizenship, ceaseless learning and greatness. There are over 50 majors and minors. Also, the Plus One programme permits students to graduate with a bachelor's and master's degree in five years. The school has two satellite educational centres in Illinois, the George Williams College campus in Wisconsin, and an online programme. Aurora has more than 60 student associations, including Greek life, and organizes several events on the campus. The university partners with local public schools to teach science, technology and engineering to the students in grades three through eight through the John C. Dunham STEM programme.

Academics at George Williams College of Aurora University (GWC) offers 16 bachelor's and master's degree programs with most courses administered on the George Williams College campus in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. GWC also offers doctoral programs in education and social work. The Woodstock Center, located in downtown Woodstock, offers graduate programs in nursing, business and education, and adult degree completion programs in business, communication and nursing. The Woodstock Center also offers doctoral degrees (EdD) in Leadership in Educational Administration and Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction.

Aurora University Online offers adult degree completion programs, master's degrees and endorsements in a completely online format. The college expresses that its student-faculty ratio is 17:1, and the normal class size is 23 students. Aurora University works on a semester-based academic year. The school likewise offers an international and service focused 'Travel in May’ programme at the finish of the spring semester, just as summer courses. Among the alumni include Barbara Hernandez - a Democratic individual from the Illinois House of Representatives from the 83rd district, and Tom Weisner - an American lawmaker who became the mayor of Aurora, Illinois, in April 2005
