The Austin Community College District was founded on 17th September, 1973. It had only one campus then with around 1700 students, but over the years it has expanded and grown to become one of the largest educational institutions with 11 campuses. It offers around 100 programs in 10 areas of study, including Arts, Business, Computer Sciences, and Liberal Arts, Information Technology and Culinary Arts.

It also offers career and technical training, GED and continuing programs. The institution was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1978. It has 11 campuses, including Cedar Park, Kyle, Elgin, Leander and various parts of Austin. These campuses are home to over 70000 students from different ethnicities.

Its average program cost is 80% less than other state educational institutes making it affordable for students from low-income families. It has raised around $70 million for financial aid for over 13000 students. On an average, a student receives $5200 of financial aid. It also awards scholarships; an average of $2000 was awarded to 700 students last year. The institution also helps with payment plan options. ACC’s alumni include famous names like Regina Rodriguez, Henry King, Ronny Washington Jr and many more.
