Clark University is an independent research institution of higher education, which was established in 1887 when Jonas Gilman Clark, a well-known businessman, offered a large endowment. The university offered first graduation class in 1902 and was recognized as one of the 1st all-graduate research universities in the country with departments in physics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and psychology.

Apart from these educational facilities, there are over 130 student organizations and clubs which are supervised by the Clark Undergraduate Student Council. The council is responsible for managing various clubs and conducting their events. Notably, Clark Cougars, an athletic team of the university, competes intercollegiate in 17 NCAA Division III. Also, there are numerous facilities offered at the college level.
In addition to this, the university has many notable faculties and alumni who are now the founders of several known companies, including the American Psychological Association, the American Physical Society, and Panera Bread. The graduates of the university are contributing to different areas of art, culture, science, entertainment, and technology. There are at least 3 living alumni who are billionaires and have won an Emmy Award and 3 Pulitzer Prizes.
