Established in 1865, Cornell University is a privately endowed, statutory Ivy League research university located in Ithaca, New York. In 1868, Morrill Hall was the first building to be built on the main campus in Ithaca. It is the University that founded the first four-year schools of hotel administration and industrial and labour relations. In addition, the world's first degree in journalism, the nation's first degree in veterinary medicine and the first doctorates in electrical and industrial engineering were awarded by Cornell University. Furthermore, the solution to one of the most famous problems in mathematics, Poincaré Conjecture, was first posted on Cornell's arXiv.org

The main campus includes 608 buildings covering around 2300 acres of land, in the heart of New York State's Finger Lakes region. The University has eight undergraduate units and four graduate & professional units to administer its academic programs in Ithaca. Additionally, the University has the nation's top-ranked medical and graduate school, Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) along with a Tech campus located in New York City. Cornell is setting new world standards inpatient care by expanding its reach to Doha, Qatar where WCM-Q has established a centre of excellence in basic, translational & clinical biomedical research.

A. Cornell selects students who have always ranked at the top of their class. An average GPA of 4.07 is expected from incoming undergraduate students. Q. Does Cornell have a waiting list?

A. Yes, some of Cornell's colleges/schools have been releasing a waiting list for the past few years. However, it is difficult to predict whether a waitlisted student will receive an admission offer. Waitlisted students are not considered for an admission offer until all of the accepted students have responded to their offers till May. The decision of admitting a student from the waitlist is made by the individual college/school.
