Established in 1925, Gannon University is a four-year private Catholic university. Started as a college of arts and sciences, under the 1925 charter of Villa Maria College, it was established by John Mark Gannon. In 1944, it received its own charter as a men's college of 4 years. Later in 1964, after becoming a co-educational institute, it established a graduate school. Finally, in the year 1979, the college was granted University status to offer higher learning.

The university offers various scholarships, fundings, and awards that identify educational and athletic achievements, exceptional talents, and demonstrated requirements. Other than this, the university maintains more than 140 clubs and organizations to allow students to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities. Also, it offers 22 varsity sports and is associated with NCAA Division II.

Further, the university has a network of more than 46,000 alumni who are actively contributing to different areas of society. A. Chances are pretty bright that most of those who would apply here for admission would get selected, with the acceptance rate being 79.9%. So if there are 200 applications, 180 will be selected. You’ll easily get a place here if you meet their GPA, SAT/ACT requirements.

Q. What help is extended to the international students who wish to get doubts solved before admission?

A. If any international student needs any help related to the admission process, immigration, orientation, excursions, workshops, referrals, etc, they can reach out to the university’s Office of Global Support and Student Engagement. Students can also expect to be received by the office authorities and taken to campus for the very first time, once they’ve reached the airport.

Q. Is Gannon University expensive?

A. The university’s tuition fee is quite reasonable and much below the average cost of a US private university. Even the living cost is not high in the area, making the overall expenses pretty low as compared to the other courses available in different renowned universities.

Q. What all does the tuition fee cover?

A. The university tuition fee covers campus orientation, 25 hours per week of academic guidance, library, recreational centre, health centre and cultural and social events. Other things such as housing, books & materials, food and health insurance are not covered by it.

Q. Do I have to pay the entire tuition fee together before the course commences?

A. Once you’ve arrived at the university campus, and obtained the academic schedule as well as the invoice, you’ll be given the option to either make the entire payment together or in instalments. Students can also send the fee before arriving.

Q. Are the international students allowed to take up a job along with studying?

A. As per the U.S. immigration law, all the international students can take up a job on the campus upto 20 hours every week. When the classes are not going on, full-time work is permitted. Students can work off-campus only if they are facing some financial issues or have received optional practical training permission.

Q. Is it mandatory for international students to have health insurance?

A. Yes, it is important for all the students coming from abroad along with their family members to have health insurance.

Q. Is an English Proficiency proof required for admission into Gannon University?

A. International students, who are non-native English speakers need to submit proof of their English proficiency with a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 or IELTS score of 6.5, or a minimum PTE score of 53.

Q. What kind of programs are available at Gannon University?

A. Students can get enrolled in courses with a duration of 1 week to 1 academic year. Courses such as GIFT and those which integrate 1-4 weeks of travel are on offer as well.

Q. Is it mandatory for students to submit a GRE score for PG admission at Gannon University?

A. GRE score has to be submitted only by those students whose undergraduate score is less than 3.2. They can still be admitted to a program provided they display academic promise and are looking out for development professionally. Such students may be provided provisional admission.
