The Scheller College of Business offers bachelor, master, and PhD programmes in the business and commerce domains. It offers complete career development services to business students in the undergraduate and MBA programmes. Although the services of the Georgia Tech Career Services and Scheller College Career Services are available to all Scheller College students, the primary responsibility for internship and permanent job searches rests with the students. The college’s career centre’s mission is to provide support during this process. Scheller College of Business Placements: Overview

The college boasts of the Jones MBA Career Center as it is consistently ranked in the top 5 MBA Career Services offices globally owing to it employment success (as per The Financial Times). The career centre helps students in various ways, such as:

  • Developing a career strategy, identifying job search targets, and exploring MBA career options.
  • Interview preparation and prepping for the MBA job market.
  • Identifying MBA recruitment opportunities for both summer internship and full-time employment after graduating.

All MBA students are assigned to a career advisor over the summer as soon as they arrive at Scheller. The advisors get to know the students personally and guide them throughout the two-year program. They also help students develop an MBA career search strategy that aligns with their field of interest and leverages their individual strengths.

Scheller has a mix of MBAs from technical and non-technical backgrounds that provide employers with a diverse pool of strong candidates. The Class of 2022 students brought expertise spanning a variety of professional and educational backgrounds. At least half of this class of Full-time MBA students had an educational background in STEM. Also, the Evening MBA Class of 2022 was made up of 41 per cent women, making it the highest proportion of women enrolled in the programme’s history.

Despite the economic stress and changes in every industry, the Class of 2020 was prepared to face this challenge, equipped with top-ranked career services from the MBA Jones Career Center. With a 31:1 ratio of students to a career advisor, the career centre team worked with students to turn their dreams into reality even during a global pandemic. Quality of career services played an integral part in helping the Class of 2020 navigate such a tough time.

About 90.4% of students from the full-time MBA Class of 2020 received a job offer within three months of graduation. More than half of the class entered the Technology or Consulting industry post-MBA. The average salary offered to Scheller Full-time MBA graduates was USD 121,045 and the average signing bonus was USD 25,040. The Evening MBA Class of 2020 had students graduating in August 2019, December 2019, and May 2020. About 75% of these students changed job levels, 46% changed job functions, and 37% of graduates changed industries post-MBA.

Scheller has not disclosed any elaborate salary report for its graduates. However, it provides an overview of the full-time MBA Class of 2020 salaries. Around 83.1% of the graduates received a signing bonus and the average signing bonus offered was USD 25,040. On the other, the average base salary offered to Scheller MBA graduates was USD 121,045.

The Jones MBA Career Centre is dedicated to helping Scheller MBA graduates find the best job role that suits them according to their interests and needs. The career centre helps students represent their best selves and prepare for success in a competitive job market via resources such as workshops, summer internships, career fairs, and more.

Career Development Workshop: It is a weeklong orientation prior to the start of school that is designed for students you get a head start on their summer internship and post-graduate job searches. Apart from this, students regularly meet for workshops with their peers and career centre staff to learn key skills including:

  • Developing a high-impact resume

Summer Internships: Students are encouraged to participate in summer internships during the summer after the first year. Internships provide an opportunity to apply managerial theories learned in class while gaining valuable work experience. It also adds to students’ resume content. Most of these internships turn into permanent employment for students as more than 100 companies recruit MBAs through the Jones MBA Career Center each year. Most of these employers use summer internships as their primary source for MBA full-time employment.

Q. What are the educational or degree requirements for international students for admission to the MBA program?

A. International applicants need to have the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree to be considered for admission. The university does not consider a three-year degree equivalent to a US bachelor's degree. An additional Master’s degree might improve the likelihood of eligibility, however, neither professional designations nor work experience will be counted toward the fourth year of study. Q. Is the Scheller MBA STEM-designated?

A. No. Presently, Scheller MBA programmes are not STEM-designated. However, Georgia Tech offers many STEM-designated MS and PhD Programs that can be paired with the MBA via the Dual Degree path.

Q. What placement success have students had?

A. Scheller’s 98% of MBA graduates are employed three months after graduation. Its placement services consistently rank in the top tier for employment record among Full-time MBA programmes

Q. Are applicants to the MBA program required to interview?

A. Yes, however, the admission interviews are by invitation only.

Q. Is work experience required to be accepted in the Scheller MBA programme?

A. At least two to three years of professional work experience is recommended. Students with no professional work experience can discuss the contributions they can make to the programme in the  application essay, based on internship experiences or leadership activities. Although work experience is not mandatory for admission, the college suggests applicants have a few years of experience as most of its recruiters require current students to have at least three years of work experience to be considered for a summer internship or full-time career placement.
