The eligibility criteria and language requirements for applying to different programs offered to international students at LIU are given below:

Eligibility Requirements for International Undergraduates —

The admission to undergraduate programs is based on high school grades or SAT or ACT results. Students must have a high school diploma or certificate to secure admission to undergraduate programs.

Eligibility Requirements for International Postgraduates —

Students must have an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution to be a part of the postgraduate program in the university. A GRE or GMAT exam score may be required for most of the courses.

Application & Tuition Fees

Is there any application fee?

The application fee ranges between USD 40 and USD 50 for different programs depending upon the campus you wish to apply to. For instance, Pharmacy campus requires an application fee of USD 40 while Brooklyn charges USD 50. This fee is non-refundable and compulsory to be paid by every student to submit the application.

What is the fee structure of the different courses offered by the university? 

The tuition fee at Long Island University is calculated on credit hours basis. Also, for international undergraduates, the university has specified the annual cost of attendance while for graduates, tuition fee has been explained separately. Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

Yes, Long Island University allocates a certain amount of money for scholarships to students. However, no scholarships depend on financial aid. They are granted based on passing marks at the college.

The university offers various scholarships to undergraduate and graduate international students. All undergraduate students are considered for scholarships based on their academic merit. The availability of institutional, merit-based scholarships varies according to the academic program. Admission Process

When do the admissions start?

Like the other US universities, Long Island University also offers admission in two major intakes:

International students may apply in either of the intakes as per their convenience. While most of the programs offered by the university have rolling deadlines, some programs, especially graduate programs, have specific last dates. Hence, students are advised to check the official website for their specific program’s last date and submit the application accordingly.

Rolling deadlines allow aspirants to apply throughout the year. As soon as admissions for the current intake closes, the application window for the next intake opens. Thus, students may apply anytime for the upcoming session. However, it is recommended to apply six months in advance before the start of a new academic session as the window for international applicants is most like to close by that time.

Part Time Work While Studying

Can I work while studying here?

Yes, the university offers on-campus employment opportunities to both national and international students while studying. The Federal Work-Study Program provides on-campus jobs to students with financial needs. The money earned may be used towards tuition fee payment, educational needs, or personal expenses. Students can work up to 20 hours per week after the start of each semester. Summer employment is also available.

LIU Graduate Assistantship program provides on-campus employment in a variety of settings to eligible graduate students. Full-time and part-time graduate tuition awards that provide up to 9 credits of aid are available to students based on their enrollment for the term. Graduate stipend awards, in the form of a monthly check, are also available for students registered for a minimum of 3 credits per term.

For international students, there are certain additional requirements, such as:

• A completed F1 visa status with the Admissions Office
• A completed Employment Eligibility Verification Form with the Admissions office
