The university has campuses in Macon, Atlanta, Savannah, and Columbus, two regional academic centers in the state, a university press, and five teaching hospitals. The School of Medicine in 2012 opened a clinical site in Columbus for third- and fourth-year students. In 2021, it will expand to a full four-year campus of the medical school. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges

Currently, the University has a total of 8,759 students enrolled in various programs. Mercer University has 12 schools and colleges, which offer liberal arts, sciences, law, pharmacy, medicine, health care, counseling, and human services, education, theology, engineering, journalism, music, nursing, theology, and more. Mercer University has several colleges offering a plethora of subjects and specialization. Some of the colleges include College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Law, School of Engineering, School of Business, College of Education, School of Theology, College of Professional Advancement, School of Music, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Health Professions, and School of Medicine.
