New Jersey Institute of Technology or NJIT as its commonly referred as ranks at #118 as per US News & World Report – National University ranking 2021. This makes NJIT among the top 200 universities in the US for admission. The rankings have significantly increased from #97 in 2020 to #118 in 2021 implies that LORs and high school rank hold more importance in terms of selection, because of high selectivity rate of 73% at NJIT. The rank increased for NJIT in terms of Global University ranking (US News & World Report) to #847 for 2021 from #803 in 2019 and 2020. The reason being its average freshman retention rate of 88% as per 2019 data. 

QS – World University ranks NIJT between 751-800 for since 2019 till 2021, because of its low overall score of 4.5, employer reputation – 8.5, citations per faculty at 25.5, international students’ ratio at 74.2 and international faculty ratio score at 47.1.  THE – University ranking also sees a consistent rank range of 501-600 for NJIT since 2017 to 2021. THE scored NJIT in 2021 for the given parameters – international outlook: 86, citations: 58.3 and an industry outcome: 35.4. 

NJIT has 06 schools offering over 125 courses at UG, PG and doctoral level. There are also courses available during the Summer School. The School of Management is a lesser popular in comparison to Newark College of Engineering. The School of Management has been ranked #201 for UG Business category by US News & World Report 2021, a downfall from #224 in 2020. While the Graduate Business School ranking for 2021 of US News & World Report suggests that NJIT – School of Management offering PG courses rank ranges between 99-131. 

In terms of Engineering courses, it can be seen that THE – PG Engineering & Technology ranking for 2021 ranges between 201-250 for NJIT since 2020. A lot of Engineering courses have gained recognition and have been ranked by US News & World Report for PG Engineering courses in 2021 for the first time. Some of these courses ranking include Biomedical Engineering at #71, Electrical Engineering at #82, Chemical Engineering at #84, Civil Engineering at #93 and Mechanical Engineering at #94.
