Oregon State University is an international public research university situated in Corvallis, Oregon, USA. It is known to be Oregon's largest university. The Carnegie Foundation has distinguished the university like Oregon State University as a "Community Engagement" university. It has also defined the university as a doctoral university with a status of 'highest research activity'. This university is also one of the only three U.S. institutions to attain the titles of sea-grant, space-grant, and sun-grant institutions. The school started offering its college-level curriculum in 1865. This university began its operations as Corvallis College in 1868. Later, the school got permission to offer courses such as Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts.

The first graduating class happened in 1870, granting a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1873, it started offering a course in agriculture. By 1935, this university started awarding Doctor of Philosophy degrees. This university renamed itself as Oregon State University in 1961. This university has over 200 undergraduate degree programs with a huge variety of graduate and doctoral degrees. This university is known to be the largest university in the state.

The university comprises of two campuses, 11 colleges, 12 experiment stations, extension programs in all 36 counties, academic programs. The main campus is located over an area of 400 acres. Harris Black Cultural Center, Native American Longhouse, Asian & Pacific Cultural Center, and the Centro Cultural César Chávez. This university has many notable members in its faculty such as George Poinar, Jr., who is an entomology professor, whose work of extracting DNA from insects fossilized in amber was used as an inspiration in the conceptualization of the novel and film of Jurassic Park, Ernest H. Wiegand, an inventor of the modern Maraschino cherry.
