Graduate Admissions

OSU’s Master’s International Direct route gives students direct access into their chosen degree program with additional support in the first term. The admissions process is non-competitive, has no application fees and does not require additional test scores.

What is the fee structure of courses offered by the university?

 

All prices mentioned below are estimated rates for the 2020-21 academic year given by the university, which are subject to change. There are four terms per academic year (fall, winter, spring, and summer), each about 12 weeks or three months.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

 

Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

 

The scholarships provided by the university depend on the majors and individual colleges within OSU in which a student is enrolled. To manage the scholarships, OSU has created an application portal known as ‘Scholars Dollars’, where students can search and apply for the scholarships as per their eligibility.

 

Undergraduate scholarships are mostly based on merit and are applicable to students of a particular region. For merit-based scholarships, students should have a GPA ranging from 3.0 to 3.75. For some scholarships, students need not apply separately as their eligibility is decided on the basis of their academic credentials at the time of application. Graduate scholarships are offered on the basis of the financial need or merit. Region and courses-specific scholarships are available for international students.

 

Scholarship amounts and eligibility requirements are subject to change. Awards will be pro-rated dependent on program duration. All INTO OSU Scholarships are non-renewable. Admission Process

 

When do the admissions start?

 

OSU has four terms and thus, it offers admissions around year. However, if you aim to join the university during a particular term, them you need to submit your application within that term’s deadline.

 

Graduate programs have course-specific application deadlines, which are often earlier than the general university deadlines given below. In such cases, program deadlines supersede the general university deadlines. Some academic programs also admit applicants for specific terms only (e.g. fall term). Thus, you should check the respective program/course page for its deadline. International applicants are advised to allow adequate time for visa process and make travel arrangements.

How to apply to UG courses?

 

Undergraduate students can apply to any UG degree, UG Pathway, or Post-Baccalaureate programs through the OSU's official portal. The process for both regular admission and pathway admission is the same, and the students need to register on the university's portal first before applying to the program of their choice. UG applicants need to follow the below steps to apply for a UG program:

How to apply to PG courses?

 

OSU accepts only online applications from students. However, if you are unable to access the form owing to internet issues, or you do not have a credit card for payment, you can e-mail graduate admissions office or send a note to OSU’ postal address to see if alternative arrangements can be made.

When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?

 

The Office of Admissions notifies students of admission decisions of UG applications based on posted decision dates affiliated with application deadlines. Students who meet OSU’s Fall Early Action deadline will hear from the Office of Admissions no later than early-December regarding their admission decision. Those who complete their application after November, but meet OSU’s Regular Application deadline of February, will hear back by mid-March. Graduate applications are proceed within six week, so students can expect a decision in 45 days.

Can I work while studying here?

 

International students who have F1 and J1 student visa can undertake on-campus employment by following the federal regulations. On-campus employment includes:

• Work related to a scholarship, assistantship, or fellowship; or
• Employment on school/college premises, including on-location commercial firms which provide services for students on campus, such as the university bookstore or food services.

 

Work hour restrictions are as follows:

• Up to 20 hours per week during the term
• More 20 hours per week between two terms and during summer vacations
• Full-time during vacations

How many colleges and campuses does the university have?

 

Oregon State University has two campuses, 11 colleges, one Graduate School, one Honors College, and 12 experiment stations in Oregon. The main campus is located in Corvallis, which is a smart city with great weather and natural surroundings. The OSU Cascades campus, located in Bend, is known for its scenic locations and happening places.

 

 

 

Is on-campus housing available?

 

Oregon State University provides housing facilities to all students on both of its campus – Corvallis and Cascades. Corvallis residence halls have shared flats and single flats for students. A dedicated staff is assigned to guide the students, and the residence halls have all facilities, such as kitchens, free laundry services, bed with bedding accessories, and so on. The Cascades campus has residence halls too, but only single bedrooms with private bathrooms are available to international students.

 

Students are required to select a dining plan at an additional cost, in addition to the room rates as per residence hall. The most common room cost is the Buxton Double Room that costs USD 10,260/year with the Dining Plan 3 (USD 3,300), bringing the total amount to USD 13,560. The most affordable room is the Cauthorn Economy Triple Room that costs USD 6,840/year with the Dining Plan 4 (USD 2,700), whose total amount to USD 9,540.
