Southern Illinois University (SIU) is an open research university situated in Carbondale, Illinois. Established in 1869, SIU is the oldest and flagship campus site of the university system of Southern Illinois.

Southern Illinois University campus is spread across 1,136 acres. The university maintains a student center which is also one of the largest student unions in the country. Other than this, there is a library at the campus called Morris Library which holds over 4 million volumes, more than 3.6 million microform units, and 53,000 existing periodicals and serials. Also, it provides a broad variety of electronic sources to students working on research projects.

SIU Courses

The university offers 300 academic programs including 100 bachelor’s, 3 associate, 73 master’s, and 36 Ph.D. programs. In addition to this, it offers specialized degree programs in law, architecture, and medicine. Apart from this, the university is also providing an MD/JD dual degree program since 1989.

SIU Eligibility for Indian Students

Candidates need to meet certain Graduate school requirements to be eligible for admission

to a graduate degree program.

  • Candidates need to have a GPA of 2.7 (on a scale of 4.0) in the last two years of Bachelor's coursework
  • Also, candidates need to have a GPA of 3.0 on all previous graduate work

For Undergraduate Admission: Candidates with a high school GPA of 2.75 or above need not submit SAT or ACT score.
