  • The program emphasizes developing analytic abilities, making better decisions, and developing and executing strategies while also leading people who innovate
  • Graduates of the MS&E program know math, engineering, and behavioral science. They can conduct experiments to design better systems, organizations, and work processes.
  • Available concentrations are Financial Analytics, Operations and Analytics, Technology and Engineering Management, Computational Social Science, Decision and Risk Analysis, Energy and Environment and Health Systems Modeling
  • Most students complete the program in five academic quarters, working at an internship in the summer quarter, for a total of 18 months. The MS can, however, be earned in one academic year (three academic quarters) of full-time work.

  • Applicants from institutions outside the U.S. must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association
  • A three-year bachelor’s degree in any subject is not considered sufficient for graduate study at Stanford. The two-year master’s degree following the three-year bachelor’s degree from India is required
  • Applicants are expected to have completed both Linear Algebra and Differential Calculus of Several Variables, or an equivalent multivariable differential calculus and linear algebra course(s), and Programming Methodology, or an equivalent general programming course, before the beginning of the graduate study
  • Additional course work in general programming, statistics, and economics is preferred
  • Applicant must hold an engineering degree or a related quantitative degree (major or minor) that includes differential calculus of several variables and linear algebra
